SAUCE
2 tbsp cornflour
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp Kechap Manis (sweet soya sauce)
A splash of tomato ketchup
1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine or dry Sherry or a splash of brandy..
1/8 tsp Chinese five spice powder
1/2 tsp sesame oil (optional)
1/8 tsp tsp black pepper
STIR FRY
2 tbsp oil
360g beef …. beef ham or a couple of sirloin steak … will feed 4.
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 tsp fresh ginger, finely chopped
1 head broccoli florets, cooked. Drop into boiling salted water for a couple of minutes. Don’t overcook.
1 cup water
Instructions
Place cornflour and water in bowl then mix. Add remaining Sauce ingredients.
Slice the beef into thin slices. Place the beef and 2 tbsp of the Sauce into a bowl to marinate and set aside.
Heat oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat. Add beef and spread out, leave for 1 minute until browned.
Stir fry the beef to suit your taste, then add garlic and ginger and continue to stir fry for another minute or so.
Pour the sauce and water into the pan and quickly mix.
When the sauce starts bubbling, add broccoli. Stir to coat the broccoli in sauce, then let it simmer for 1 minute or until Sauce is thickened.
